From A Family Of Entrepreneurs Hussain Sajwani Builds On His Experience

Hussain Sajwani started his professional career as a Contracts Manager at GASCO, a firm based in the oil industry of the United Arab Emirates. After two years with the company, Sajwani departed and started his first company focused on catering. He found much success with the venture and began to invest in others, in the 90s, he built several hotels to capitalize on an emerging and fast-growing market. By 2002, Hussain Sajwani established DAMAC Properties to lead his push into the hospitality market, and it became one of the largest developers in the industry as a result.

His experience covers a variety of disciplines including marketing, sales, legal, finance, and administration. As Founder and Chairman of DAMAC Properties, their portfolio includes projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Jeddah, Riyadh, and London. As of the start of 2018, Hussain Sajwani has goals to further expand in London as a result of Brexit and therefore a moderately priced pound. He sees this development making the properties market more favorable to expanded operations in the city and throughout the country. He also has plans to expand in the United States, which will grow DAMAC’s existing offerings beyond the Middle East and Europe.

Hussain Sajwani has also looked to forming new partnerships with the likes of the Trump Organization. The latest, two golf courses set for construction in the UAE, his native country and that of DAMAC’s day-to-day operations. Designed by Tiger Woods, the first completed in 2017 and Sajwani has been impressed by its built quality. This partnership has garnered attention by many outlooks who associate the Trump Organization with the President of the United States. Though, Hussain Sajwani admits he does not believe actions made by the president will affect the company “business as usual” status.

Sajwani’s experience goes far beyond his extensive career and has roots with his father who was also an entrepreneur. It seems it also runs in the family as Hussain Sajwani’s son, Ali Sajwani, is also looking to get into business as a graduate in Economics from North Eastern University in Boston. He lives in Dubai with his wife and four children.
